When the decision to join NHS Shared Business Services has been made, organisations enjoy a high level of support from the very start. Our migration process has been developed over several years by a highly skilled team made up of people from both NHS and private sector backgrounds, who have expertise in every aspect of migration from the detailed financial processes, through IT and networks, to change management and communications.
Migration is quite simply the process of transitioning a Trust from their current financial, procurement and payroll processes onto the NHS SBS processes. This activity is not just a technical change, but should be considered a small business transformation initiative. However our Migration professionals are there to support Trusts every step of the way.
Migration projects are controlled through a series of stage gates. The key Project stages are:
Stage 1 – Initiation During this stage all the key resources required to complete the project successfully are identified and put in place.
Stage 2 – Impact Assessment This stage provides a high level view of how switching to the NHS SBS solution will impact the organisation and ensures that the Migration team fully understand current business needs and processes.
Stage 3 – Process Design & Data Capture Here future processes are agreed and all key data is captured, ensuring that the Project Board is in a position to make a reliable Go/No-Go evaluation.
Stage 4 – Transition
This stage moves the Project from a ‘Go' decision through the final loading of data and end-user training, through the system ‘Go-Live' and finally to full migration to NHS Shared Business Services.
Stage 5 – Post Implementation Support (PIMS) & Project Closure
This stage involves a period of Post Implementation Support (PIMS) to take the organisation to a position where full operational service is transferred to the NHS SBS Operations team.
Without the assistance and guidance from NHS SBS it just wouldn’t have been possible for us to meet the requirements of the pilot within the given timescale... Right from the start, the migration teams in NHS SBS project managed the whole exercise, with clearly defined timescales and areas of responsibility.
