NHS Shared Business Services is constantly evolving our policies to meet the changing requirements of our clients and to bring innovative solutions in areas such as:

10 Day Invoice Payments 
NHS SBS can support client Trusts to achieve the Department of Health’s 10-day invoice payments initiative.  Our industrial strength systems can deliver accelerated payments, report on trends and benchmark Trusts to enable our clients to measure progress.

Fixed Assets
NHS SBS is launching its Fixed Assets solution for clients which is fully integrated with Oracle AP, both NON PO and PO.  Our solution also integrates posting journal entries and has full asset tracking capability.

In addition, we can maintain leased assets and leasing schedules, including maintenance schedules for buildings and vehicles.  We will hold insurance and warranties for these assets and IFRS requirements are also met by our systems.  We are currently running a pilot and will be launching this early 2009

Best Practice Consultancy
NHS SBS has a best practice consultancy service, "Assure 2", which reviews how our Clients use the NHS SBS systems and services and ensures that they are used in the most effective and efficient manner.  Assure 2 will then identify areas for mutual improvement in the partnership working arrangement and share expertise gathered from the considerable experience gained by NHS SBS and it’s clients. Since it launched in August 2007 over 30 clients have taken advantage of this consultancy service.

Merger Services
Since 2006 NHS SBS has worked in partnership with our clients to scope, support and project manage the delivery of mergers, working alongside client teams to ensure the smooth integration of Ledgers, interfaces, processes and change management activities.  We supported our clients through the major NHS restructuring programme which took place during 2006 and early 2007, which dealt with mergers ranging from a simple merge of two organisations into one, up to a complex merger of seven organisations into one entity.  NHS SBS continues to provide this specialist service today, with further work planned for 2009.

PCT Provider & Commissioning Ledger Segregation / De-merger Services
NHS SBS is working closely with our existing PCT clients to tailor our service to meet the changing needs of the Primary Care sector.  This adaptable offering ensures that all PCT requirements are catered for, from simple I&E Reporting segregation to complete ledger splits into Provider or Community Care and Commissioning arms, supporting PCTs whilst they review their strategic development needs for the future and focus on achieving World Class Commissioning and APO status.   NHS SBS has already helped 6 client PCTs to achieve full ledger splits during 2007 and 2008 and has a similar number of ledger split projects planned for 2009.

  • Patient registration, validation and medical records
  • Screening services (breast and cervical) call and recall
  • Medical, dental, pharmaceutical and ophthalmic contracts – including contract payments
  • Probity and post payment verification services
  • Support to performance and disciplinary action
  • Support to national flu campaign

We are working in close partnership with many of our clients to expand the range of services we can deliver now and into the future.
