John Neilson - Managing Director

Appointed Managing Director of NHS Shared Business Services Ltd in January 2009, John was previously the Steria Global Delivery Unit (GDU) Director for the UK and India, responsible for providing infrastructure solutions that improve cost competitiveness and consistent service quality for Steria and its customers.

Prior to joining Steria in 2001 John ran his own business offering HR and change management consultancy services. He has also held Human Resource Director positions with organisations such as ICL and Bull Information Systems.

Mike Wood - Chief Operating Officer

Mike Wood assumed responsibility for the NHS SBS F&A Shared Services Centre in January 2006 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in October 2006.

Previously Mike worked for Steria for nearly six years where he was responsible for managing delivery of F&A shared services to a number of Steria's clients, including BT and O2. Mike was also heavily involved in establishing Steria's F&A presence in India.

Roger Bennett - IT Director

Roger was appointed IT Director in February 2009, having previously worked in the Steria Global Delivery Unit, initially as Service Delivery Manager and latterly Business Manager developing the delivery of Steria infrastructure solutions. Most recently, Roger held the position of Transformation Programme Director developing IT transformation plans with Steria government clients.

Prior to joining NHS SBS, Roger spent over 12 years with Steria, initially working as Customer Services Business Manager responsible for enterprise and desktop systems support, for all UK customers at regional and national level. Roger subsequently became a Programme Director leading the infrastructure services business for one of Steria’s largest government clients.

Chris Ashburn - Finance and Commercial Director

Appointed Finance Director of NHS Shared Business Services Ltd in April 2006, Chris was previously Commercial Development Director of accounting and finance shared services.

Chris has been with Steria for 10 years in a variety of roles, including merger and acquisitions and large outsourcing transactions. He formed part of the core team that delivered the BT foundation finance and accounting client in a deal worth £270 million over 7 years and which delivered over £93 million of savings to the customer.

Peter Bruce - Client Director

Peter Bruce joined NHS Shared Business Services in September 2006 as Client Director. He is responsible for the overall strategic management of relationships between NHS SBS and its clients.

Prior to joining NHS SBS, Peter spent 20 years at Cable & Wireless, lately as Group Customer Service Director. Peter has extensive experience in Client Management in both the public and private sectors. At Cable & Wireless, he was responsible for the creation of an integrated Client Management function and led complex change programmes that improved service delivery and client satisfaction. Peter is ITIL Service Management qualified a member of the Institute of Customer Service (CMICS) and holds an MBA.

Karen Robertson - Business Development Director

Karen joined NHS SBS just prior to the launch of the Joint Venture, helping to shape the set up of the commercial processes and develop the service offering to meet Trust requirements.

She was previously responsible for Applications Management and Business Process services in the Utilities and Telecoms industries, working through several periods of organisational and structural change.

Monica Owen - Marketing Director

Monica Owen joined NHS Shared Business Services in June 2008 and is responsible for marketing and communications strategy and implementation across NHS SBS.

Monica has worked in the health sector for more than 10 years and previously worked at Bupa.  She launched the Bupa Commissioning brand in 2006  and prior to that worked across the Bupa Group in Corporate Affairs, PR and Internal Communications.  Monica also set up Bupa's corporate social responsibility strategy.

Hannah Goodman - Solutioning Director

Hannah Goodman joined NHS Shared Business Services in October 2009 as the Director of Solutioning.

Prior to taking up this position Hannah worked for TCS where she was responsible for the cross-sector Shared Services value propositions with specific responsibility for the Transformational Outsourcing offering.
Before joining TCS Hannah was with Unisys in the Public Sector Division.

Jon Baker - Family Health Services Director

Jon joined NHS Shared Business Services from Steria and is responsible for Family Health Services (FHS).

Jon has worked within the IT services industry for the past 23 years, working for a number of global IT companies; during his time with Steria Jon was the interim Director for the Shared Service Centre responsible for providing services to the whole of Steria.

Clare Edwards - Head of HR

Clare joined NHS Shared Business Services in April 2010 and working with the management team has responsibility for people related matters across NHS SBS.

Clare has worked in HR for the past 20 years and latterly for Atos Origin where she held a number of senior HR posts.
